2. Noordoostpolder, Flevoland

The Noordoostpolder is the largest tulip-producing region in the Netherlands and is also called the 'Tulip capital'. The area has an extensive plain of colorful tulip fields where you can enjoy the natural beauty for FREE! The best time to visit this region is from late April to early May when the tulips are in full bloom. The landscape is then a sea of color and the scent of tulips is everywhere.

DISCLAIMER: Do not run into all fields, pick or trample the flowers. Most fields are private property. So if you’re not sure ask the farmer for permission first.

There are also regular events organized, such as the Tulip Route, which you can follow to discover the most beautiful spots. For €5,00 you can, choose your route and are allowed to drive through the roads. There are also tours you can bike, these are free.
